The Dolphin Hotel turns one this August, and to celebrate they’ve enlisted iconic Australian 80s rock band ‘The Models’, an all star line up of The Dolphin’s Greatest Hits, including Food + Drink by Maurice Terzini, Monty Koludrovic and James Hird, alongside an incredible list of Sydney’s most notable music selectors assembled by Picnic.
Off the back of a hugely successful 12 months, the Dolphin Hotel has grown to become the home of a quality, food and wine program, with a focus on provenance and local producer focus across it’s Public Bar, Wine Room and Dining Room.
Rocking New Year’s Eve Party, the E.P. L.P. (Los Angeles) takeover party last month, Melbourne Cup, Pizza Party #1 and a host of collaborations with friends including some of Australa’s best chefs, wine makers and producers for our Aperitivo Hour, this 1st Birthday Party will draw influencers from all of these wonderful moments from the life of the Dolphin’s first year and hopefully be the highlight.
The Dolphin Hotel’s music program was specifically developed around the late 70’s and 80’s post-punk era, with a heavy emphasis on Australian music from that period. It therefore made perfect sense to have ARIA hall of fame inductees, and infectious 80’s Aussie post-punk influenced rockers – The ‘Models’ to headline the festivities. They will be performing all of their original hits including ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ (1985 Australian No.1), and ‘Barbados’, (No.2 Aussie and US hit), with live production and full concert staging built in the heart of the Dining Room. Supporting The Ramones, Midnight Oil and The Police in the early 80s and billed frequently alongside household names such as INXS, Mental As Anything and Divinyls, the Models are true Aussie rock legends and this will be your chance to catch them before their full Australian tour later this year.
The Birthday will see an all-star line-up of the Dolphin’s greatest hits carefully produced by Maurice Terzini and Monty Koludrovic. This includes a Public bar food menu of Proper Sandwiches, Pies and freshly roasted and carved Porchetta Panini. The Dining Room will provide Pizza Romana by the slice and Burrata & Afghan Bread, whilst The Wine Room will host its very own Mortadella & Natural Wines Party. And for something sweet, Jacqui Koludrovic will be having some fun with her house made wine gums and caramel chews. Food will be available all night to those who have made their entry donation to the Crown St Public School.
For the Drinks there’ll be the usual suspects, with James Hird curating an epic beverage selection including Delfino Negronis, Terzini’s well known and loved No.8, classics such as The Screwdriver & GnT, a Natural Wine menu from the Wine Room, Champagne and a range of draft beer and tinnies.
Picnic Touring & Events curates the huge music line up of acts in support, which includes Djs back to back: The Original Roman, Sydney’s dancefloor legend in Ben Fester, the incredible Kali, Adi Toohey, Andy Webb, party starter Ariane, Mike Sydney, Dj Salami, Dreamcatcher, Jimmy Sing, Michelle Owen, Parihaka, Physique and Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh!
